In 2017, TanenbaumCHAT made Jewish day school history with the launch of an innovative tuition program.
Thanks to two major gifts, we were able to reduce tuition by $9,000 for all students for five years. This bold initiative was extremely successful. The robust increase in enrolment clearly demonstrated that tuition accessibility was key to allowing more parents to choose our school for their children.
We are committed to maintaining tuition accessibility and predictability. For this to be sustainable, the school has set a goal of raising $2.5M annually through philanthropic dollars.
We are extremely grateful to the donors whose visionary gifts (facilitated by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto) made our tuition pilot project possible: alumni Edie Neuberger ’75 and Norm Jesin ’74 for their transformative donation of $10 million, and Irving and Toddy Granovsky for generously contributing an additional $4 million.
At the conclusion of the five year program, we launched the TanenbaumCHAT Tuition Accessibility Program (TTAP). It came into effect for the 2022-23 school year and provides tuition relief for middle-income families.
TanenbaumCHAT is a pillar of Jewish Toronto and a destination for significant philanthropy – and a community school powered by the generosity of our entire community! Our donors ensure a strong and sustainable future for the only community Jewish high school in the GTHA.
