With over fifty different clubs and committees, our students have countless opportunities to get involved in school life and build their leadership skills. One way to do that is by joining the Athletic Council. The council is a school leadership group that helps promote and execute athletic activities throughout the year.
Some of the members' responsibilities include: scoring and timing athletic events, organizing Terry Fox Run, Intramurals, school-wide tournaments, the athletic banquet and awards, and the promotion of school spirit.
This year's Athletic Council has just returned from their annual retreat. This was a great chance to get to know each other, set up council member roles and responsibilities, start to organize and plan the athletics calendar, and to be physically active in the great outdoors.
The Algonquin retreat was a success! Camping, hiking, swimming, ice breakers, cooking, campfire bonding and, of course, council meetings; what a way to start the year!
