רבי שמעון הצדיק ….. היה אומר: על שלשה דברים העולם עומד: על התורה, על העבודה ועל גמילות חסדים -אבות א:ב
Here at TanenbaumCHAT, our goal is to prepare our students to make a positive impact on our community. Just as Rabbi Shimon believed that the world rests upon 3 basic pillars – Torah, worship and acts of loving kindness, we believe that a successful student experience rests upon 3 basic building blocks: knowledge, active student life and community service.
When a student joins our school, each forges the next link in the chain of Jewish tradition dating back thousands of years. Each one becomes, as well, a part of the proud 50+ year history of our school. TanenbaumCHAT takes pride in the role we play in developing the next generation of Jewish leaders. Our over 7000 alumni have benefitted greatly from the broad range of curricular and extra-curricular programming we offer, from a dedicated, talented and passionate staff, and from a wide array of sports teams, arts programs and Jewish experiences. Browse our course calendar and look through this web site to see some of the many programs we offer!
If you love music, check out our music program, with choral group, concert and symphonic bands that play at their own events and enhance many others. If drama is your thing, you’ll love our 4 year program in dramatic arts, underground play and school musical. For the athletes, we field over 20 competitive sports teams ranging from baseball to volleyball, to, of course, ice hockey. If you want to participate at a less competitive level, we run a variety of intramurals throughout the year. There is virtually a limitless range of clubs and committees available to students and it is so easy to start a new one! Shabbatons, engagement with Israel, discussion of Jewish identity, and the perpetuation of our heritage are essential to our program.
We are also a community, dedicated to tikkun olam, repairing the world, helping others and performing acts of chessed. This year, our students gave over 10,000 hours of service back to the community and our school raised a record amount of money in support of cancer research. We believe that we are stronger when we are united in support of one another, whether within school, the local, national, or international community.
We call this the TanenbaumCHAT experience and we cannot wait to show you in person.

Message from TCK Principal Renee Cohen
Our school has over 50 years of success in the Toronto Jewish Community and is recognized around North America as a first-class highly reputable Jewish institution. Our product is The TanenbaumCHAT Experience and we are proud of all of the accomplishments that we have achieved together as a school community.
Our students graduate from our school with the skills and tools needed to be successful leaders in our local, national and global Jewish communities. With an ever changing world that we live in, with different ways of thinking and learning, TanenbaumCHAT evolves to be on the forefront of Jewish and of 21st Century Education.
Life after TanenbaumCHAT has limitless possibilities, given what our students have gained over their four years of high school. We teach our students to be leaders in the Community and to build a strong and cohesive community within the school and beyond. We engage our students in Service Learning and Chesed in an effort for them to help make a difference in the world in which we live. We value learning for the sake of learning, using intrinsic rewards as a motivator and drive. We develop in our students a firm commitment to the State of Israel and its people and provide opportunities for them to embrace the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world through acts of loving kindness). We help our students create a strong sense of balance in their life by encouraging them to work hard in their academic studies, and still play hard and get involved in the many extra-curricular opportunities that our school has to offer. TanenbaumCHAT students learn with their heads, their hearts and their souls and we encourage our students daily to think deeply about what matters to them as Jews and as young adults growing up in a complex Canadian society.
The TanenbaumCHAT Experience is yours to explore and yours to experience. TanenbaumCHAT stands proud that we have given this experience and opportunity to over 7000 alumni who have gone on to achieve impressive and notable success in their academic, professional and personal lives. As a graduate of the school myself, I can say with great certainty and conviction that TanenbaumCHAT is where it is at and that this is a school like no other.
The next 50 years will undoubtedly be filled with much success and accomplishment as we remain a strong and robust Jewish school.
I wish you a warm and heartfelt welcome to the TanenbaumCHAT Family!
