Alumni Relations Officer

Summary of the Role
 

TanenbaumCHAT seeks a talented, energetic person who will increase involvement and engagement of our alumni and increase the number of alumni leadership donors at TanenbaumCHAT. The Alumni Relations Officer, reporting to the Director of Advancement, will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni to provide tangible benefits to both the alumni and current students of TanenbaumCHAT. With each graduating class, the TanenbaumCHAT alumni community continues to grow in strength and numbers, now boasting more than 8,000 alumni. They are central and active participants in every area of Toronto's Jewish Community and abroad. 


Our areas for strategic growth:

  1. Build and grow a pipeline of alumni donors
  2. Event planning to encourage more reunions and other networking opportunities
  3. Increasing communication in order to foster strong relationships
  4. Re-launch the Alumni Mentorship Program


Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and implement new programs for increasing alumni engagement with TanenbaumCHAT
  • Create and/or contribute to publications for alumni including: CHATTER Magazine, Alumni e-newsletter and e-blasts and webpage updates
  • Develop & manage a portfolio of leadership alumni donors and prospects and their experience with the school; oversee their stewardship; solicit their annual gifts and visit when appropriate.
  • Execute Alumni programming including Reunions and the Mentorship Program
  • Updating and maintaining Alumni records on Raisers Edge
  • Support faculty by contributing alumni participation in ongoing school programming
  • Introduce graduating TanenbaumCHAT students to TanenbaumCHAT’s Alumni Association


Requirements:

  • Experience in alumni relations and external affairs with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the school, alumni, other constituents and the public
  • Strong writing, planning and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, and in a team environment to achieve institutional goals
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Extensive experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent database
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Graduate of the Jewish day school system an asset
Social Media & Design Specialist

Summary of the Role

This person is responsible for designing creative communication materials for TanenbaumCHAT and disseminating these materials through the appropriate channels. This person reports to the Communications and Marketing Manager.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creative design of the School’s biannual magazine, Chatter, working with fulfillment house on production and distribution;
  • Manage website including content and page creation, consistent updates and routine checks of timely information and functionality;
  • Advise and assist administration and other constituencies with promotional efforts, including design of event flyers, programs and posters;
  • Produce recruitment & fundraising materials that incorporate the school’s brand values, and focus on the whole education that TanenbaumCHAT provides; Manage print and distribution
  • Responsible to ensure that the day-to-day activities for the school and its students are captured, photographed and disseminated across all our social media platforms in a timely manner;
  • Support teachers and students, as required on all communications that they produce;


Required Qualifications:

  • Significant working experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Initiative and attention to detail;
  • Degree or diploma in graphic design


Key Attributes for Success:

  • Must have proven ability to handle several assignments simultaneously in order to efficiently meet deadlines for diverse communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to take the lead in projects, but also collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Must work well under pressure and be flexible in terms of hours and work assignments.

Communications and Marketing Manager

Summary of the Role

This position is responsible for developing and executing a marketing and communications plan that is aligned with TanenbaumCHAT’s strategic vision.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating creative communication strategies and materials for TanenbaumCHAT in order to ensure a cohesive and integrated marketing approach/message throughout the school and for all stakeholder groups.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for content, design, and production of all printed materials including the annual report, bi-annual CHATTER magazine, admissions materials, newsletters, fundraising appeals, blog management, print and digital advertisements, programs and invitations;
  • Responsible for the content of TanenbaumCHAT’s website and its social media outlets
  • Collaborate with Recruitment and Development professionals to produce inspiring recruitment and accompanying admissions materials and fundraising materials that incorporate the school’s values, history, philanthropy, and focus on the whole education that TanenbaumCHAT provides;
  • Interview, write and edit both general and segmented Advancement and school communications including news releases and other materials as required (eg: weekly Parent e-newsletter, weekly photos & cutlines to CJN and other media outlets, promotional items, etc;
  • Support teachers and students, as required on all communications that they produce;
  • Develops and executes a marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the school’s strategic vision and priorities
  • Supervision of the Social Media & Design Specialist


Desired Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of related experience in communications, with an emphasis on high-quality written communications;
  • Superb project management skills with history of managing complex projects involving a variety of constituents and stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, easy-to-understand concepts;
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing innovative communications and marketing plans;
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience working in a school or not-for-profit environment preferred;
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • A degree or diploma in a related field (new media, journalism, communications etc.) from a recognized post-secondary institution;


Key Attributes for Success:

  • Must understand the role of communications and its integral role in supporting school and advancement functions. 
  • Must have development communications expertise and the ability to plan and coordinate segmented communications rapidly and effectively.
  • Must have proven ability to handle several assignments simultaneously in order to efficiently meet deadlines for diverse communications and marketing initiatives.

  • Experience in managing relationships with both internal and external constituents: faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, donors, suppliers.
Educational Assistant

TanenbaumCHAT is seeking an EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT (EA) to fill a maternity leave vacancy. 

Summary of the Role 

As a collaborative member of TanenbaumCHAT’s Centre for Differentiated Learning (CDL), the EA assists teachers in the delivery of daily programs and care of students with special learning needs. 

Qualifications

  • Community College Educational Assistant certificate or the equivalent specialty training.
  • A minimum of one (1) year demonstrated successful experience supporting individuals with special needs is preferred.
  • Excellent reading, writing, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member; high degree of sensitivity and diplomacy; ability to adapt to changing situations; ability to cope with stressful situations. 
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and students.
